Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel, has opened its doors to the public in the UAE’s Year of the 50th, the Golden Jubilee Year of the United Arab Emirates.
Ain Dubai stands 250 metres tall, which is more than the Las Vegas High Roller’s 167.5 metres. The Las Vegas High Roller formerly held the record for the tallest observation wheel in the world. Others that came close included the Singapore Flyer at 165 metres and the Star of Nanchang in China at 160 metres tall. The London Eye is only 135 metres, making Ain Dubai almost as twice as big as the London Eye.
There are a total of 48 cabins on Ain Dubai, and each airconditioned cabin seats ten people inside at a time. One complete rotation takes 38 minutes, and the views are spectacular. Flanked by the Arabian Sea on side and the towering skyline of Dubai on the other side, Ain Dubai is an experience not to be missed.
Ain Dubai is located on Bluewaters Island in Dubai. The cabins offer some stunning 360-degree views of the city by the water. Those inside the cabin can choose to sit and relax while taking in the view, or they could be on their feet and enjoy themselves to some soft music. Light refreshments are served during the duration of the experience.
Up to 40 people can stand comfortably inside each cabin. There is also a DJ console inside each cabin, making Ain Dubai the ideal place to celebrate birthdays, private parties, and small gatherings. Ronald Drake, General Manager of Ain Dubai, says that the cabins can also be used for intimate romantic getaways or unique culinary experiences.
According to Ronald Drake, Ain Dubai’s cabins could also be used for nightlife and VIP events, as well as engagement ceremonies and weddings. A total of 19 different experiences are possible on Ain Dubai. The cabins are divided into Private Cabins, Social Cabins, and Observation Cabins. The Observation Cabins provide Instagrammable views of Dubai, while the Private Cabins offer exclusivity. Business events and special events are also possible aboard Ain Dubai.
Ain Dubai is all set to become one of Dubai’s top attractions. A ticket costs AED 130 per person, with children aged below three and 12 years of age having to pay AED 100 for a ride on Ain Dubai. A family pass that is valid for two adults and two children can be availed of for AED 370. For AED 450, the Family Plus Pass entitles each member of the family to a snack and a beverage.
For those who can’t get enough of one rotation, they can opt for a second ride. A total of 1,750 people can be on the wheel at any one time. Residents of Dubai who got on the wheel on the first day likened it to ‘floating in the clouds’, with some splendid views of The Palm and Jumeirah Beach Residence neighbourhood 250 metres high in the air.
More than ten countries came together for the construction of Ain Dubai, which was first announced in 2013. The steel used in the structure was produced in the United Arab Emirates, Germany, and South Korea. It took 11,200 tonnes of steel in all, which is 33% more than what was used in the construction of the Eiffel Tower in France. The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and France lent their project management and engineering expertise, while it took the two largest cranes in the world to build Ain Dubai.
