Travelling to the UAE? Check Out These Guidelines

All those who are travelling to the United Arab Emirates must be in possession of a valid negative RT-PCR test administered by a Government-approved agency in the country where they are coming from. They will be re-tested upon arrival at a port of entry in the United Arab Emirates. If the test result is found to be positive, they must go into quarantine in the emirate they are planning to visit.

For those travelling to Abu Dhabi

The RT-PCR test result presented at the port of entry into Abu Dhabi must have been administered 48 hours prior to the journey.

These rules are applicable to all citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates as well as international tourists arriving in Abu Dhabi.

  • All those who are fully vaccinated and having their journey originating from a country on the Green List are not required to go into quarantine. However, they must additionally take another RT-PCR test on Day 6 of their arrival into the United Arab Emirates.
  • All those who are fully vaccinated and having their journey originating from a country not on the Green List are not required to go into quarantine. However, they must additionally take RT-PCR tests on the Day 4 and Day 8 of their arrival into the United Arab Emirates.
  • All those who are not fully vaccinated and having their journey originating from a country on the Green List are not required to go into quarantine. However, they must additionally take RT-PCR tests on Day 6 and Day 12 of their arrival into the United Arab Emirates.
  • All those who are not fully vaccinated and having their journey originating from a country not on the Green List are required to go into quarantine for 10 days. However, they must additionally take a RT-PCR test on Day 9 of their arrival into the United Arab Emirates.

*The vaccine must be approved by the World Health Organization.

As of September 2021, only those who test positive are required to wear a wristband. Those required to go into quarantine do not have to wear a wristband if they test negative, according to the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee.

For those travelling to Dubai

The RT-PCR test result presented at the port of entry into Dubai must have been administered 96 hours prior to the journey. This test must also have been administered at the airport where the journey originated.

All citizens of the United Arab Emirates are exempted from the above requirement. However, they will be tested upon entry into Dubai. They are further required to go into home quarantine until the test result is published. If found to be positive, they must isolate themselves and strictly follow all the instructions the Dubai Health Authority. If found to be negative, they do not have to remain in home quarantine.

Some residents of Dubai will be tested again upon arrival at a port of entry in the emirate. They are required to go into home quarantine until the test result is published. If found to be positive, they must isolate themselves and strictly follow all the instructions the Dubai Health Authority. If found to be negative, they do not have to remain in home quarantine.

For those travelling to Sharjah

The RT-PCR test result presented at the port of entry into Dubai must have been administered 72 hours prior to the journey. This test must also have been administered at the airport where the journey originated.

Residents of Sharjah and international travellers will be tested again upon arrival at a port of entry in the emirate. They are required to go into home quarantine until the test result is published. If found to be positive, they must isolate themselves for 14 days and strictly follow all the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
