The UAE is changing how businesses access tax certificates. From January 1, 2026, the Federal Tax Authority has stopped issuing paper-based tax registration certificates and moved the entire process online. Under Cabinet Decision No. 174 of 2025, businesses can now download UAE digital tax certificates directly from the EmaraTax portal for free. 

What Has Changed in UAE Tax Certificates

Businesses no longer need to apply for or store physical copies of their tax registration documents. The FTA now issues digital tax certificates in the UAE that can be downloaded instantly from the EmaraTax portal.

These certificates are issued for free, replacing the previously paid certified paper tax registration certificates and warehouse keeper registration certificates. 

Each digital certificate includes a QR code, which allows banks, customs authorities, and government departments to verify a company’s tax registration status immediately. This removes the need for physical verification.

  1. Log in to your EmaraTax account
  2. Go to your tax registration profile
  3. Request and download your tax certificate online in electronic format

The certificate is generated instantly and includes a QR code for verification. You can download it whenever you need it without applying again. 

New Fees Introduced for Advance Pricing Agreements (APA)

While the FTA removed fees for standard tax certificates, it introduced new charges for specific corporate tax services. These fees apply to Advance Pricing Agreements (APA), and mainly affect large or multinational businesses. An APA is a formal agreement between a company and the tax authority that sets the pricing method for transactions between related parties. Businesses use these agreements to manage transfer pricing risks and avoid disputes during future tax assessments. Under the new rules, companies must pay a fee when applying for a Unilateral APA for the first time. Fees also apply when renewing or amending an existing agreement. The FTA introduced these charges because APA applications require detailed technical reviews and significant regulatory oversight. This update is relevant to businesses dealing with Corporate Tax in UAE, particularly those with cross-border operations or complex group structures.
