If your application for a visa has been approved, you can check the status here:

At the link, you need to select ‘Passport Information’ in the ‘Search By’ field.
You also need to select either ‘Residency’ or ‘Visa’. If you have applied for a residence visa, you need to select ‘Residency’. On the other hand, if you have applied for a visit visa or an entry permit / e-visa, you need to select ‘Visa’.
You then need to enter your passport number and the Date of Expiry of your passport in the fields that follow below.
You also need to select your country of citizenship from the drop-down menu in the ‘Nationality’ field on the page and the code will be populated automatically.
Finally, you need to complete the captcha before clicking on ‘Search’ in the lower right corner.
If your visa has been issued, you will be provided details like the File Number, Visa Status, Date of Issue, and Date of Expiry.
You are also provided with a six-digit Unified ID number which is used to track any person entering the United Arab Emirates for whatever reason, be it employment, as a tourist, or as a dependent.
What if my visa has not yet been approved?

This takes you to the website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai.
If you find the webpage to be in Arabic, all you need to do is locate ‘English’ on the left side of the page, near the top corner, and click on it for an English version of the page.
The default is set to search by ‘Application’.
You need to enter the Application Number, Transaction Number, and the Payment Date.
You should have received your Application Number when you applied for your e-visa or residency visa.

You can then complete the captcha and click on the ‘Search’ button in the lower right corner of the page.

If you have applied for a visa to Abu Dhabi or any of the other five emirates, namely Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah; you can use the website of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship to track the status of your visa application.

You will see that you have to enter the Request Number (this is the same as the Application Number) and complete the captcha before you can click on ‘Search’ in the bottom right corner to get the details of your visa application.
